Hairsisters.com, You Just Lost One....

Hello Bellas!

Last month I bought 4 wigs at Hairsister.com's after Christmas sale. They were a wonderful price, and they arrived in 7 days.....HOWEVER, I had to call EVERY day to ensure that my items were in stock, that my order had been processed, and that my order was on its way. It was time consuming and tedious. But for the price, I put up with the incompetent service.

Two weeks ago, I placed another order with Hairsisters. I called the next day to make sure my items were in stock, and that my order had been processed. PROBLEM.....one of my items, even though it was advertised on their site, was NOT in stock. So, of course I asked how long it would take them to get the piece from the manufacturer. Their response? 3 to 6 WEEKS!!!!! Nope! Nada! Not Gonna Happen!! So, I canceled the back ordered item, requested a refund for the price of the item, and asked them to ship the other piece that they had in stock. After a few days of checking my bank account and checking my Hairsisters account, I noticed that the other half of my order had NOT been shipped, nor had my money for the canceled item been refunded. By this point, I am beyond inconvenienced, and have moved on to being majorly pissed!

So, I called Hairsisters AGAIN (I have their number memorized by this point.) After I called 10 times finally someone answers and tells me my refund request had not been properly processed and that it would take an additional 3-5 days before it would be credited back to my account. In addition to that, she told me that the other half of my order had been "delayed" (ie- forgotten) and that she would make sure that it would be shipped out today. (9 days after placing my initial order!!!)

It shouldn't take this much aggravation to order some dang hair! So now Bellas, I am officially DONE with Hairsisters.com. Businesses only have one time to mess with my money before I drop them like a bad habit. One strike and you’re OUT!!

The good news is that I've found a NEW Hair/Beauty Supply website that I LOVE!!!! Golden Mart Beauty Supply. I ordered a piece from them on 1/29/10 (a Friday night),  Monday I received a shipping confirmation email, along with a tracking number (something I NEVER got from Hairsisters.) And my package arrived Wednesday!! THREE BUSINESS DAYS!! Also, their site has a 99.9% in stock rate, which means if you see it on their site, in your color, THEY HAVE IT!!! No waiting for it to be ordered from the manufacturer!! Also, none of that choosing a 2nd color nonsense! An added bonus is that their selection is MUCH larger than Hairsisters, and their customer service is a DREAM! If you have a question, all you have to do is email them (during business hours), they wrote me back in less than 5 minutes!! Oh, and they also included a nice comb as a free gift!

Now.....the downside......their prices are, in some cases, a little more expensive than Hairsisters, and their shipping is kinda steep. I ordered a $12.95 ponytail, and the shipping was $7.95. But, their shipping is FAST, and I don't have to babysit my order! So, for me, it's well worth it!

Sorry for the rant, but hopefully you'll benefit from my experience. Due to their poor customer service, Hairsisters.com has just lost one.....

I don't know why it's so difficult for small businesses to understand customer service is their bread and butter, one bad review and that's an automatic red flag against them. Can't blame you for taking your business elsewhere. Thanks for the info.

@Curvy Girl- I know right? There is NO excuse for bad customer service. I don't know how a business as profitable as hairsisters can think that being unreliable with their order fullfillment can be an incentive for repeat business. They got my money two times, there will NOT be a third.

their "sister" site, clairhair did something VERY similar. I mailed a wig back for a return, they NEVER refunded my money, then told me about their bogus return policy AFTER I sent the darn thing back. Nothing could be done. I wasted my money...NEVER AGAIN!

@Bad}Me{Good- Playing with my $$$ is a no-no. That's the main reason I wrote this post. I wanted other people to be made aware of the way Hairsisters/Clair Hair does business, and also make them aware of another shopping option. None of these companies will start to improve their practices until "we" start messing with their money! When their business tappers off, all of a sudden they will start to rethink the way they treat their customers. Until then, they'll do whatever they want.

I hate that you had a bad experience with Clair Hair. Let me know if you decide to try Golden Mart Beauty Supply. They are WONDERFUL!

I am currently having the same problem, they should have shipped out my order 3 days ago and every day I have called the customer service rep has told me it should be shipped out in the afternoon

@Crazy _Gurl- I know exactly what you're going through. Same thing happened to me. If I were you, I would call, ask to speak to the manager, and tell him that you are cancelling your order, and tell him why.

They are never going to improve their customer service until we as consumers start messing with their revenue.


I hope everything works out. And if you are looking for another hair site, give GMBS a try. They have FAST shipping, and GREAT customer service! They are the ONLY place I buy my wigs now.

thank you so much for this review, I make it a point to read reviews before I try anything new, whether it be business, food, hair, shoes, whatever. I've been HUNTING for some freetress waterwave, found it at hairsisters, but I will be taking my money to gmbs. They are more expensive =/, but I need my hair this week :). Thanks for sharing your experience, at least some good came from it, shared knowledge.

@Mandy- I'm so glad my experience helped you. I'm not getting paid by GMBS (lol), but I think it's important to let people know about good companies that value their customers. Let me know how your order goes. I've ordered from them many times and I've never had a problem with backordered items, slow shipping, or processing times.

I had a similar incident. Ordered the infamous Mommy wig during their last sale. Bad enough I had to wait 2 weeks to get it...it never effin came. I call and I keep getting the answering service finally someone returned my call and when she did I remembered that I had another wig that I ordered in April that I never received. She claimed that a refund was sent but I have yet to see it from the first one...let's see how long it takes for this one. I'm with ya girlfriend I am officially done. I too ordered from golden mart and got my hair in 2 days. They just lost 2!!

@ Anonymous- Oh, that Mommy wig is a cutie! Too bad, short hair doesn't flatter me, or else I would be rocking that baby everyday!

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with hairsisters. They are beyond trifling. Also, be aware that clairhair.com and hairsisters.com are the same company, with the same owners and customer service, therefore, I'd avoid shopping with them as well.

I'm happy GMBS was helpful, and that you got your hair so quickly. They've never let me down since I've been shopping with them. There is NOTHING better than getting your order quickly!

here it is 11/27/10 and i am going thru the same thing. They advertised something that was not in stock. I ask for a refund or store credit. They told me that the store credit would show up that day, but it never did. I have been calling them for four days now and all i get is that they are busy helping other customers. They have not issued a refund or store credit. Their service is the worse i've ever seen.

Definitely do not order from hairsisters.com. They have no problem taking your money without ever sending your order. Plus, the customer service is HORRIBLE!
